Global Load Balancing - Balance your load, improve performance
GLOBAL Load Balancing is ideal if you have clusters of servers in multiple locations. You can restrict an IP address to a specific location, resulting in even faster performance, better load balancing, and more control over your Internet traffic.
For example, if you have one server co-located in our
New York data center, and another in our
Los Angeles facility, users on the east coast will be directed to
New York while users on the west coast are directed to
Los Angeles. Also, if you have a cluster of three servers in
Los Angeles and one happens to be much stronger than the other two, you can weight the traffic such that it handles the majority of the load.
Use the automatic server Port Check to adjust the hostname mapping in real-time. This built-in smart feature gives you the ability to adjust the weights on the IP addresses based on the perceived load and health of the server. Port Check will also failover your Internet traffic to nearby regions should an entire region become unavailable.
Highlights
- Map hosts to geographic areas
- Weighted round-robin per IP address
- Load balancing based on automatic server Port Check
- Only available on the PEER 1 network, from at least two data centers
